{pretty packages + the designs they inspire}

I’ve said it before, but I have to say it again! Fashion and interior design often go hand in hand. How better to showcase this than by showing you how iconic and pretty packaging from several fashion houses can translate into gorgeous interiors?

1. Hermes:

Who doesn’t love the classic and bold look of the Hermes box? I think if I could ever afford anything from Hermes I would be almost as excited about the box as I would be about the contents!

You can purchase lacquered boxes inspired by this look from Plantation Design:

How about a room inspired by Hermes orange and the Hermes fuchsia pink Kelly bag? Yummy!

2. Chanel:

Chanel No.5 is one of the world’s most famous perfumes, but the interesting part is that we recognize the box as much as we do the bottle!

Black and white laquered boxes, like these from Lillie, show a direct influence from the iconic Chanel packing:

Here’s a glamorous dressing room that pays literal homage to Coco Chanel herself. Designed by Anne Hepfer, this room features vinyl-wallpaper (Phillip Jeffries) and a lacquered vanity in the classic black and white palette. Isn’t it like stepping into a Chanel box?

3. Tiffany & Co.

I couldn’t leave out this pretty little package that I think any girl would die to receive! Did you know the Tiffany Blue color is protected as a color trademark by Tiffany & Co.? I don’t blame them; it’s one of the most divine shades of turquoise I have ever laid eyes on:

I would love to have these stunning lacquered turquoise and white boxes from Plantation Design:

I've always wanted a KitchenAid mixer, and I'd say it's pretty perfect in Tiffany blue!!

Did I miss any other iconic designer packaging that has inspired interior decor? If you have any favorites that I forgot, I’d love for you to send me some drool-worthy pics!

I was so excited to see the lacquer boxes in your post! I sold these exact ones at the store and they were always a favorite! I have a stack of the bw ones myself and I call them my "Chanel" boxes :)

Beautiful images. I remember House and Home doing an article similar to this and I think they included Kate Spade and a kelly green colour. I can't seem to find the issue though.

What an inspiring post! I love how you relate all the boxes to the rooms, you are spot on!

The bw room is so chic, love the wall covering, and orange + pink is such a divine color combo!

Happy weekend!

Amazing spaces, Nancy! I'm a huge fan of orange, but I have to say that it's the Tiffany blue in your post that made me the most happy. I particularly liked the boxes and vases from Planation Design. So lovely!! Oh... and the Kitchen Aid mixer. I don't know why, but KA mixers always get me excited!

Oh my gosh, this post is AMAZING! It is the best one I've seen all week! I am obsessed with Hermes orange, it's my favorite. And the Chanel, oh, I just love this so much! I love your blog, and for some reason my dashboard isn't popping up, so I can't figure out how to follow, I'll check back and hopefully it will have returned, because I must see more!

Vanessa, thanks for letting me know my post was up on Hooked on Houses!! I was really excited to see it :) And thanks for your suggestion on Kate Spade and kelly green, I didn't think of that! I wish I had seen that article in H&H!!

Karla, I LOVE that you call your boxes your 'Chanel boxes!'

Thank you to all of you for visiting my blog!!!

This is a really fun post, Nancy :-) I think my favourite designer colours are the Hermes orange and fuchsia -- I'm sure it has nothing to do with the pink Kelly bag ;-)

Love the EKB Interiors room :-)

*Sigh* Tiffany blue really is the most beautiful shade! I'd KILL to have a Martha Stewart KitchenAid mixer...I drool every time I see it! Great post!

Hi Nancy, you are very creative. This post proves you are "born to do it". Mostly I congratulate you for doing this not as your primary profession (I used to be in the same shoes kind of and sort of) so this is from the heart.
