{trendspotting: steel frame windows}

In the passed couple of days Kelly at Jax Does Design and Lisa at Lisa Goulet Design have included lovely examples of black steel frame windows in their recent posts, and it reminded me how many pics I have saved of these window casings {thanks for the inspiration ladies}! I love this classic look, and I especially love them in a bright airy kitchen! These black frames would be in my dream kitchen for sure.

Gee, steel frames have never looked so good! Remember those awful examples from the sixties and seventies? #2 gets my vote!

Yes, yes, YES! BIG LOVE! I've actually got a huge inspiration folder filled with rooms with black steel framed windows :-) They've been a major design crush for a long time.

Thanks for the shout-out :-) xo

LOVE black frames windows. My sis-in-law had them done in her house, with a brick wall in her kitchen and white cabinets. Looks so fresh and modern. What I like about black framed windows is that they don't need anything else, they are like pieces of art in of themselves, especially when they have some architectural detail!

I have a lot of these already saved in my folder so I guess I love it too!

Love it and I also have a few beautiful images of steel framed windows in my blog. In the right architectural context they are fabulous.

I do love steel windows and doors - I did a post on them back in June of '09 (http://www.thingsthatinspire.net/2009/06/steel-windows.html)as I was starting to see them around new construction in Atlanta. At the end of our house design, I asked my architect if we could slip them into our kitchen design - so we swapped out a wall of windows/doors on one of the walls for steel doors. They were installed last month, and they look great! The windows on the other side of the kitchen, flanking the range, are going to be regular wood windows, but we will be painting the trim black to match the steel windows.

That is one beautiful trend that I think is here to stay.....so classic. Sadly mine might have to be painted though :(
