{designer profile: summer thornton}

I just love Summer Thornton's style, she seems to be able to blur the lines between traditional and modern perfectly. Her design firm, Summer Thornton Design is based out of Chicago, and her work was recently featured in Adore Magazine and Apartment Therapy. Her esthetic is based on classic design principles but she injects fun and trendy pieces that just make her rooms sing:

I just love every space she designs! I adore the mix of old and new, different fabrics, bold hits of color... I could go on and on! This talented designer is one worth watching.

{trendspotting: nailhead on tables}

Did you notice this spectacular little side table in Nicole Cohen's home? It's the Marco side table from Bungalow 5.

It got me thinking how much I love the idea of nailhead trim on tables!! Here are some others I love:

Or how about a nailhead wall treatment? I love the grid-like pattern and the interest this adds!

And here's an awesome Ikea hack, believe it or not this is an Ikea Besta console with upholstery nails tacked into it! How clever :)

This simple piece:
Turned into this ... Lovely!!

I am loving nailhead trim every where!

{house tour: glam all over}

I am currently SWOONING over the home of Nicole Cohen, featured in the current issue of Rue. The issue went live today, be sure to check it out! Nicole states in the article that she created a blog to be able to ask fellow design lovers for opinions and advice while decorating her home. What a wonderful idea!! Well this lovely lady is clearly talented, she pulled her inspirations together perfectly, and her New York Upper East Side apartment is the evidence:

A ton of black & white, mirror, and lucite makes this space nothing but GLAM!

Check out the lovely subway-patterened mirrored wall!

Love the Hicks pendant lights!

Black Imperial Trellis wallcoverings, I DIE ...

Is that a whole pile of gorgeous-ness all wrapped into one apartment or what?? Check out Nicole's post to see some behind the scenes pics from the photo shoot!

{trendspotting: just beachy}

Remember the fabulous Christian Chaize print hanging in Kiane Von Mueffling's dining room that I posted about here?? Well I have been growing more and more obsessed with it ever since ...

I'd love to have a GIANT print like this in my home ... but it'll set you back about a few thousand dollars. In my desperate online-hunting I found that the website 20x200 sells 14"x11" editions of this print for only $50! Not bad! The Chaize print from 20x200 was even mentioned on the Nate Berkus Show when Michelle Adams of Lonny Mag discussed the hottest home design trends under $50 (watch the clip here).

In my online travels I also came across the lovely works of photographer Massimo Vitali:

These to me were reminiscent of the gorgeous piece hanging in Victoria Webster's home, featured in House & Home. I couldn't find the source for the print in her living room, but seriously ... how amazing is the size of this piece!?!

And finally, I happened to be watching Cityline this week where upcoming trends for 2011 were shared, and guess what was hanging above the sofa on the 'New Modern' set?? Another perfectly-beachy print. The source was listed as Art Interiors, I'm sure it's still way out of my budget, but maybe I should send them a little email inquiry? {sorry, it was hard to get a good screen-shot of it from the video!}

***Update: the piece shown on the set of CityLine above is by the talented artist Joshua Jensen-Nagle, check out his portfolio for more perfectly beachy artwork!

So I think it's official, these amazing photographs are definitely ON TREND! I'm lusting. If you come across any fabulous prints like these please let me know!!
