{real estate heaven}

Any one identify with me when I confess to searching MLS online listings for fun on a regular basis? I'm not in the market for a new home, I just love to know what's on the market and at what price points. When I came across the beautiful home below I'm pretty sure I gasped out loud. To quote the fabulous Carrie Bradshaw, 'I've died and gone to real estate heaven!'

I think my favorite part is that this beautifully renovated historic Federal-style mansion located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada was built in 1909!  The 8,500 square foot mansion boasts a spacious modern interior that includes a gourmet kitchen, formal living and dining rooms, 5 bedrooms, 8 custom fireplaces, 7 panoramic “gallery” areas, a home theater, gym, front courtyard, and a rooftop terrace. It is listed at $7,875,000. The restoration is done so well that by looking at it, I would never have known that this charming mansion was built over 100 years ago.

Kinda almost died when I saw these herringbone floors:

Serious gorgeousness! I know the home is completely empty, but with those bones can you only imagine how fun it would be to decorate this place?

{decor inspiration: upholstered kitchen benches}

Do your family members and guests tend to hang out in the kitchen even more than the living room? If that's the case, why not go for some comfy kitchen counter seating? I love the idea of an upholstered kitchen counter bench {kinda like a love seat for the kitchen}:

Love that this look is a nice twist on the ordinary. And if you've got little ones an easy wipe-able leather would be perfect! On the other hand if you want a touch of glam, you know that I would never say no to tufting:

I'd love to rock this look!

{trendspotting: sheep stools}

Well, it seems it's apparent that if you happen to have a sheep in your living room you are uber trendy! Who woulda thought? This whimsical piece has been popping up all over blogland!!

Hans-Peter Krafft sheep stool $575-1200
They are actually a little pricey, and I'm not even sure how comfy they would be as a stool or ottoman. But seriously, how cute would one of these be in a nursery?

*Update*

After a couple of your comments I searched for the sheep with black bodies, and it turns out these babies are hard to come by! You can find them on 1st dibs but it will run you about $5000 {it's literally a vintage (1975) piece of art, I wouldn't dare sit on it :)}. Anyone know of a less expensive knock off?

{my dream home would have to have: the glam lamb edition}

I've got a line up of fabulous bloggers for this new series, 'My Dream Home would Have to Have...' and first up is one of my favorite blog friends, Hallie of The Glam Lamb. She's sweet, talented, and her blog is on my daily must-read list! If you haven't been by to visit her yet, hurry cause you've been missing out! So, without further ado....

Hi everyone! My name is Hallie, and I have a lil' blog called The Glam Lamb. First and foremost - Thank you Nancy for asking me to be part of this really cool guest post!! It's so fun to dream and this is the best series to do it! You have been such a wonderful blogging friend to me and this is such a treat!!

As much as I would love to design my own bedroom for my "Dream Home" - I truly would love to collaborate with the fabulous ladies of Massucco Warner Miller to design it instead. These girls have so much style, and they always hit my design craves with everything they do. It would be a dream come true to work with them hands on to design a bedroom of my dreams.

This bedroom (above) has all of the touches that I crave - vintage finds, glammed up and perfectly layered. The accents of gold and bamboo makes my heart race!

Now this room is just glistening genius! The wallpaper combined with the hot coral is heart racing, yet not over the top.

And another beautiful example of their work. I love the pairing of different fabrics without being fussy. It all works seamlessly - and that would be exactly what I would want for a dream bedroom.

Thank you again, Nancy!!

Wow, Hallie you are bang on, a bedroom designed my MWM would be on my must have list as well! Love it. A big thanks to Hallie for participating.

{happy easter weekend}

Just thought I'd start your holiday weekend off with a nice dose of pretty :) Happy Easter to each and every one of you! I hope you have a wonderful, restful, and beautiful long weekend where ever you are. This weekend I will be spending time with my dear family & friends, donning my fanciest pair of shoes, eating the yummiest of foods {not to mention excessive amounts of chocolate}, and of course, the most important thing will be taking time to remember the sacrifice that was made for me ...

{2 fabulous ikea diys}

I'm bringing you inspiration from the talented peeps in blogland today. People are getting so creative with making over IKEA items, it's blowing me away!! First up is the fabulous Bri from Me, you and a Wiener. This girl really has talent, she can make anything over in a snap and I love her regency sensibility! Bri took a plain jane IKEA Mikael desk like this one:

Gathered inspiration from the reigning queen of regency herself, Ms. Kelly Wearstler:

KW for Pickard

And turned her desk into this!!

Using what supplies, you may ask? You won't believe it:

Amazing! And Catherine of the delicious blog, The Golden Touch has made over her IKEA dresser using fabric and the results are delightful! She took this boring piece:
Did a bit of this:

And turned it into this!! What a creative idea! And she even added some pretty art work to the top surface, go here to see.

Have you come across any DIY's lately that really blew you away? Or maybe a project of your own? Spill the beans, I am loving all the inspiration!!
