{lusting: hudson's bay point blanket}

The Hudson's Bay Company is as Canadian as Canadian gets, in fact it's history of fur trading posts goes back before our country's existence! In those early days, the Hudson Bay Point Blanket {first introduced in 1780} was often traded in exchange for beaver pelts; today this blanket is an iconic collectible often passed down from generation to generation. I would love to own one of these beautiful wool blankets one day, I still kick myself over the fact that I came across one at an antique shop in great condition for only $80 {they retail from $275-$475} and didn't grab it and run! As a first-generation Canadian, I would love to pass this iconic piece on in my own family!

I love this neutral variation on the classic palette as well, it would fit well in modern spaces:

The wool blankets range from $275 to $475 {also available in the US at L.L.Bean and Woolrich}, BUT did you know that The Bay has added a fleece throw with the iconic stripes for only $35? Pair it with the little illustrated history book, 'The Blanket,' and I think this would make a rather charming Christmas gift!

At that price, I may just have to pick up a throw for myself!

A bit of reading material for your weekend: Dabble magazine's winter issue is live! It's full of design, travel & food inspiration, and best of all there is tons of Christmas-y goodness {my favorite holiday - I allow myself to start listening to Christmas tunes as of November 1st, I'm crazy I know!}.

And I have to give a big thank you to the people at Dabble and especially Design Contributor Christine Da Costa for the mention in this issues 'What's Trending' article looking at polygons {remember this little find I listed as an Objet du Jour a while back?}:

Thank you for the support & link love Dabble, I am honored by the mention in such a fantastic Canadian read :)

{autumn afternoon ...}

Happy Friday my friends, hope your week is ending well! I leave you with a bit of autumn inspiration: I'm trying to take time to enjoy the season, spend moments examining all the lovely shades of orange & red in the trees and just take it all in! Feels like only yesterday I was soaking in the cherry blossoms of spring, oh how the days are so fleeting ...

{many many thanks!}

I have to say thank you to the wonderful people over at styleathome.com today for including me in on their 'Bloggers' Halloween tricks and treats' article! {the perfectly imperfect home}

Don't forget! Deborah Needleman, editor of the beloved Domino magazine, will have her second book released in only a few days! I've pre-ordered mine at Amazon, and at under $20 US I predict these things will be flying off the shelves. Don't you think it'll make a perfect Christmas gift? I know Halloween hasn't even come & gone quite yet, but I'm just sayin'!

The Perfectly Imperfect Home: How to Decorate and Live Well, will explore the 80 essentials everyone needs to create a stylish home without sacrificing character. To add to it's charm, the book features beautiful watercolor images by illustrator Virginia Johnson, and the spaces were inspired by the interiors of designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Kate Spade and Miles Redd. Here's a sneak peek at some of the pages:

I have a hunch The Perfectly Imperfect Home will become an instant classic once released on November 1st, be sure to pre-order your own copy at Amazon. I'll hopefully recieve mine soon and give you my personal review of the book next week!

{sarah's house 4: entry & kitchen}

Happy Wednesday all! Got a bit more Sarah & Tommy goodness for you today :) Was anyone as smitten with the entry way and kitchen on the new episodes of Sarah's House 4 as I was?? These two are definitely working their magic this season!

Let's start with a view of the entry and powder room, nothing says builder-basic here!

I love that the console used was larger {more of a dining room buffet really}, how perfect for storage? The grey {SR58 Elephant} was perfection and I was excited to discover the rug is from Ikea!

The powder room just off the entry was decked out with wallpaper {A-Twitter 5005031-Summer from Schumacher} and I fell in love with the little wall mount shelf Sarah & Tommy found. A perfect place for your guest to perch their clutch! Those kind of details make my heart sing :)

I fell in love with the kitchen!! My favorite part of this home so far! I think what I loved most is that Sarah didn't go with the safe & ever-popular white cabinets, but instead she opted for a soft grey and deeper grey on the island. What a refreshing change.

The cabinetry is stunning! And the vintage touches like the breakfast table, the laterns, and the bamboo shelf add such character.  Another trick Sarah used was to place her custom-made roman shades higher than the tops of the windows to give the impression they are even larger than they are.

So I guess the only question I have is, when can I move in??

{fresh & feminine: mwm}

This lovely living room space was featured on the cover of  the latest High Gloss magazine and you may have come across it on other blogs, but I just had to post all the lovely detail pics after spending time re-examining them this weekend. What I love about the room is the fresh and bright color scheme, the beautiful individual pieces that absolutely sing when put together, and the best use of a suzani fabric I think I've ever seen! In my books, Massucco Warner Miller can do no wrong ...

Lovely or what? I am really partial to the feminine touches, the day bed makes me swoon, and that beach print above the fireplace? I die. Very very high on my dream wish list :)

Be sure to hop over and check out more from MWM, their design work is a feast for the eyes. Hope your having a wonderful Tuesday!
