{6 pumpkin painting ideas ...}

Happy Friday all! Ready for the weekend? I've been running around like crazy getting ready for this weekend's IDSWest show in Vancouver & our Canadian Design Blogger's West event tomorrow! I attended the Opening Night party last night and it was a blast, lots of yummy design sneak peeks that I will share with you next week :) If you are in Vancouver I would highly recommend you check out IDSWest 2012, it's a great show this year!

Now that it is the last weekend of September, my mind is starting to shift to October-ish thoughts. Last year I had fun carving pumpkins, but this year I'm thinking PAINT! Here are some of the images that have my wheels turning:

1. Love these fun colors & the gold stems:

2. Or how about gold-leafing the whole thing??

3. Black matte spray-paint is a classy take on creepy ...

4. Use a painted pumpkin as a flower pot!!

5. Chalk paint! It's got a similar effect to the matte spray paint, but it can be brushed on. And I adore the soft colors grouped here:

6. Intricate details painted on, so pretty & feminine!

I'll definitely post whatever it is I end up doing with pumpkins this season! Do you have any October decor inspiration your looking forward to trying?

Have a great weekend!

{designer profile: melanie turner}

I adore the work of interior designer Melanie Turner. Her aesthetic is somehow timeless yet very current, and she blends over-the-top glamour with understated clean lines seamlessly. I'll bet you've come across several of her projects:

Melanie is definitely one to watch! To see more from her portfolio go here.

{happy monday + comfort foods}

A new week, and a whole new season! We welcomed the official start of fall this Saturday and in Vancouver, the weather has changed like clockwork. It's much cooler but I'm still super thankful that this rainy city is staying dry a little longer. I kick started the season with some yummy autumn food this weekend ... cinnamon donuts, SO good!

The ones above I bought rather than baked, but I am dying to try this recipe I found on Pinterest for oven-baked petite pumpkin spice donuts. On my to-try list for fall for sure! I also can't wait for dishes like home-made vegetable soup, chili, and my hubbies' fantastic macaroni & cheese!

On another note, a heads up that I will be adding more pieces of my artwork to my shop very soon! Starting with a print of my painting that hangs in my kitchen ... I get so many emails about it so I'm happy to announce I'm in the final steps of having it available for professional printing.

I'm keeping it sweet & short today as I'm up to my eyeballs in work, plus this week is the IDSWest show which will be keeping me busy as well, more to come on that soon.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

{lusting: gold flatware ...}

Gold is everywhere these days, and I personally am loving it! I've fallen in love with so many gold & bronze accessories {home and wardrobe!} and lately I've been longing for a set of gold flatware ...

Lovely inspiration no? There are sooo many options out there, and at really great prices too {I've been doing my homework!} ...

I love all of these options! Whether modern & sleek, or delicately detailed & vintage, I think gold flatware is a gorgeous look. Could you see using one of these sets at your next party?

{suzanne kasler's morris lantern}

I've been loving geometric lanterns lately {blogged about the dodecahedron here}, and Suzanne Kasler's lovely creation is no exception. The Morris Lantern is glamorous & classic in design, and it would work in so many different interiors!

Love this bedroom example, mostly because I love every single thing going on in here!

Check out more of this fixture here. Happy Thursday!

There are personal monogramming options:
I'd love to include this NY print in a gallery wall:
This recipe box has been on my wishlist for some time, wouldn't it be the perfect hostess gift?
Reversible wrapping paper! Genius idea for coordinating groups of gifts ...
Anything tickle your fancy? Believe it or not, Sugar Paper has my wheels turning about Christmas gifts already!

{trendspotting: elephants ...}

Happy new week everyone! We're already mid-way through this month and I can't believe it ... I had a relaxing weekend and managed to fit in some shopping at the newly opened West Elm here in Vancouver, any one else been yet? And of course a quick stop into Anthropologie & J. Crew never hurts, right? :)

While at West Elm, I got the chance to see the playful Shirley Fintz elephant table lamp, and it got me thinking how frequently I'm seeing elephants everywhere!

I love that they say elephants have excellent memory, which even surpasses that of human beings! These pieces are whimsical yet classical additions to the home & wardrobe, and are sure to leave a lasting impression as well.
