{current obsession: beni ourain rugs}

Ok, so if you happened to see my post yesterday and were trying to guess what item in the room I was drooling over ... it was the RUG! I've had Beni Ourain-style rugs on the brain lately, they just seem to work so well in sooo many different spaces. It's likely that you've seen these rugs pop up just about everywhere lately, but in case you are curious, they originate from the Atlas mountains in Morocco where the Beni Ourain tribe handmade them from lush wool trimmed from the sheep they raised. These Moroccan rugs lack color, and instead it's their geometric black and cream patterns that take center stage. Originally, Beni Ourain rugs were used as blankets, but here in the Western world their main use has been as floor coverings. Let's take a look at a few more examples:

Now the real deal can set you back several thousand dollars, but those of us on a tight decorating budget can rejoice with all the Beni-style rugs out there these days. Below are my favorites from Rugs USA, some are beni-inspired rugs, some are legit, all at a range of prices:

I'm pretty head over heels for the Tuscan Moroccan Shag, and right now it's on sale for 50%! And considering that this little girl has been fully house-trained for some time now ....

I think it might just be time for a new living room rug! ;)

get it! you deserve it! Funny how after seeing something over and over again you can't help but like it. At first I could not believe anyone could like this rug....and now I can't stop daydreaming about it...I mean it would be like stepping on a cloud and now I think they look so cool....do it! get it!

I love them too. And especially the ones without the tassels.

Go for it! It's always nice to treat yourself I totally love it. I've been seeing them everywhere lately and totally considered buying one for myself I'm so enamored with it. I found the perfect rug for my room at an estate sale for super cheap though, but maybe one day when I have more rooms...

Seriously not the right time for me to get one of these magnificent rugs but they sure are beautiful. Although when my puppy is finally house trained, I will certainly love one!

Oh, those are familiar. Spent some time in the middle atlas mountain area and saw Berber women making them. They really are beautiful. Your "little girl" is so adorable!

You definitely nailed it when you said this rug works with so many different styles. They are simply gorgeous! I feel a little ashamed for never having noticed them before, so thank you so much for the introduction ;-) Oh, and the Tuscan Moroccan Shag really suits your little fur baby, that's got to be a great excuse for hitting the stores!

xox Linda =)
