{house tour: a library renovation}

Believe it or not, the NY home below was built as a library in 1915. It was basically one big space of 1,500-square-feet. The owner did a massive renovation to create a gorgeous home; I'm loving all the dark details:

In an homage to the old library, rolling ladders were added to the kitchen cabinetry. How cool is that? “Every once in a while an elderly woman will come up to me and say, ‘I used to check out library books here. I love what you’ve done with the place,’ ” homeowner Sara Van Beckum describes.

Hope you enjoyed this renovation tour as much as I did. My only wish is that we could have seen images of what the original library structure looked like!

This is stunning. I love the tile work and light fixtures, not to mention that desk chair.

There is so many things to love here! The built-ins around the bed, with that graceful curved headboard, the kitchen cabinetry with it's seeded glass inserts, the BEAMS - just gorgeous all the way through!

This is such a gorgeous home! I just adore the character and how they incorporated the black into it. That little desk is super adorable!
