{updates to jenna lyons brownstone}

Happy pseudo-Friday my friends ;) Today I've got a look into Jenna Lyons brownstone - she is no longer the owner, and the place has been totally revamped since she moved out. It's neat to have a peek into the evolution of a home {designed by Roman and Williams}:

This is honestly very different than how the brownstone looked circa Jenna Lyons! Take a look back at this previous post for the evidence. So I'm dying to know, when you compare the before and after, which décor style would you choose?

I never thought I'd say this but I choose the latter. It's decor is so complete. The kitchen is gorgeous and everything just fits so well in the space. I feel like such a traitor but this is too good.

I love Jenna's original design for it, but it's been so copied that it seems a bit stale next to the new, opulent decor. The new design feels more "grown up" - lots of antiques - and the commenter above is right about it feeling complete! I would definitely prefer the new style.

Hmmm, there are parts of the new decor I like but I weep for the kitchen... They made it feel so tiny! I mean I get it, open shelving can be high maintenance. Also I normally love dark wood (number one reason we bought our house actually!) but it really puts me off in this setting. Definitely different from what it was! Really makes you think about the secret decor lives of houses. :)

As amazing as it was to begin with I have to say that I think the new design is just so perfect for the space. It is the right balance of traditional and contemporary and that suits the architecture brilliantly.

I have to say the updated kitchen is beautiful with the small amount of kitchen space adding upper cabinets "glass" doors my favorite help to add space and to me it looks bigger. The paint color is perfect with the amount of light that comes in you could do anything. I also love the crown that covers the entry to the bathroom it actually jumps out now making it so inviting. Love all the updates. Have a great weekend.

I like Jen Lyons living room and dining room furniture better but pretty much all the rest I like the new design better. The bedrooms and kitchen now look fantastic and yes more grown up.

I am shocked to find I also prefer the update to Jenna's version. I agree with "How cute is she" that Jenna's version has been so copied that it now seems stale. Its a real testament to how us Jenna worshipers have grown and evolved since the original home was originally published. Now I would have to believe Jenna has evolved as well and I would love to see her new place as I am sure it is fabulous!
Nancy you continue to surprise and delight me with your blog content! Keep up the original posts! You are one of the few blogs that still surprise me and none of your posts are sellout marketing or stale!
