{primping the backyard for summer}

Happy new week friends! We've been enjoying some fabulous sunny weather here in Vancouver, and I was thrilled to get out and start using our backyard this past weekend. It's always fun to add something new to bring life to our outdoor space, and this year is no exception! Thanks to The Home Depot we put together a mini succulent garden and it really added interest to a neglected corner of the yard:

We chose to place the succulents in easily-portable pots so that we can bring them closer to the house come winter. There was such a variety of succulents at Home Depot, it was hard to choose! But in the end we managed to choose variants that will fair well in our winter temperatures and come back next spring!

Thank you to The Home Depot! And it definitely won't be our last trip for the season - we hope to make every corner of our backyard camera-ready ;)

What a great variety of plants to enjoy looking at in your backyard

I know the Hens and Chicks are hardy to like -40c but is the centre one of the last set of photos a perennial? Do you keep them in a pot outside and they come back next spring? I bought a trio of succulents at HD too and I'm wondering. I figured I could only keep them in a pot and bring inside over winter. We have pretty harsh Northern Ontario winters though...
