Friday's Favorites To Follow

It's almost certain you have run into a decadent room or two proudly displaying hand-painted wallpaper by Gracie. These wallcoverings are the epitome of bespoke design and can be created with custom colored backgrounds. The history of the wallpapers is equally exotic; their website explains that Gracie was established in New York in 1898 by Charles R. Gracie and continues to be a family-run business to this day.

During the 1930's, a friend of Mr. Gracie's, returned from a visit to China with a roll of exquisite hand painted wallpapers that he had discovered in Beijing. Mr. Gracie immediately felt that he had a market for this product; fast-forward to today and Gracie's studio in the orient has been managed by the same Chinese family for fifty years. Now that's impressive history! In a modern-day twist, their social media presence through instagram is a constant inspiration to me:

The hand-painted nature is what really makes these papers works of art, just to think of the time and talent going in to every design:

Just imagine receiving a gift wrapped in Gracie wallpaper - too pretty to open in my humble opinion!

Follow Gracie studio on instagram for a dose of inspiring high-end design, and view their collections on their site here. Happy weekend everyone!
