Calgary-based designer Nam Dang Mitchell is one of my favorite designers to follow, and over the years I have been thrilled every time she has a new project published. April's issue of House & Home magazine includes a 4,000 sq ft Georgian-style new build which Nam has dubbed #mcleanresidence on her stunning instagram feed. Despite being brand new, the home has a historic feel, with a clear nod to London flats and Parisian townhouses.
Of course the chevron floors drew me in instantly, and I love that Nam selected a very light and airy stain for the wood. Contrasting against this are the gorgeous dark inset shelves (above) with a lovely mix of mid-century modern and traditional furnishings to complement the look.
The kitchen is one of my favorite spaces; I love that the hood fan is slathered in marble tiles and polished nickel trim. The amazing custom walnut paneled fridge is also trimmed out in polished nickel - my guess is that Nam is going to have started a trend with this killer high-end look.
You can see a closer look at the walnut in this image below from Nam's IG feed; she explains that she selected reeded glass cabinets as it's much more forgiving that clear glass which can be a nightmare to keep tidy:
There is an entry way as you move into the master bedroom, and this artwork just as you step through the double doors within the vestibule is simply captivating.
The family's youngest calls this next space her room, it's just lovely - my favorite wallpaper, Fornasetti Nuvolette was used for a perfectly whimsical touch. And the soft pink and ice cream print are the perfect complements to it!
Nam truly represents one of the best of the best in Canadian design, and she always reminds me that even though Canada is a fraction of the population of the US, we have some pretty amazing things going on design-wise over here :) To see more from Nam, including sneak peeks into her current and unpublished works, follow her instagram and view her website here. Have a wonderful weekend!
