{house tour: via little green notebook}

Ok, I know that probably half the world already saw {and pinned} Callie's home tour on Little Green Notebook yesterday, but I just have to re-post a few images here in case you happened to miss it. Mostly because I don't get super excited about spaces I come across everyday, but this one knocked my socks off. It is totally my style; neutrals with tiny touches of color, gorgeous vignettes everywhere you look, glamour, and hey a few ginger jars for good measure! I could move right in. Be sure to go see many more images over at LGN!

The vignettes! They are all so gorgeous! Callie is one talented gal ...

It's all so good, I can't get it out of my head ever since seeing it yesterday. And after seeing her pieces I feel an overwhelming urge to spray something in black lacquer!

Today is the last day to get your name in the draw to win a $250 designer bedding set from from Bedding Style HERE! Contest closes at midnight EST, I'll announce the winner tomorrow!

{words to live by ...}

I pinned the words below to my pinterest account this afternoon, because they really resonated with me. Instantly I had 100's of re-pins so I guess that means it spoke to a lot of other people as well! I thought I'd post it here since it states such truth:

Love it. Definitely words to live by.

{tabletop inspiration: blue & white ginger jars}

I'm always looking for styling tips and tricks I can try, and this is one of my favorites. Grouping blue & white ginger jars adds instant drama to any tabletop. I think the trick is to work in odd numbers, and include different shapes, heights, and widths. Filled with flowers? Even better.

Style me Pretty - love the lids alongside

One of my favorite examples is in a dining room designed by Grant K. Gibson, I love the entire room, but the vignette on the table really captured me.

Grant K. Gibson - that painted wood floor, to die for!

Selection of Ginger Jars from the extensive collection via Bombay & Co.

I've got 2 beautiful jars in my home, one antique and one from Bombay & Co., but I am pretty convinced that I need a few more to try this styling trick. I think one of my favorite things about these pieces is that they can appear uber traditional or totally fresh and modern in a different setting. Are you crushing on this look like I am?

{it's all in the details: bookcase sconces}

Do you have a list of must-haves for your dream home?? I bet you do ... I do too - and boy is it long ;) I actually think I should write out a list in case I ever do get to build/renovate my dream home one day! Well, on that list is this: sconces built into bookcases. I'd love to have a dedicated den/library, and it would have to sport this look. I just adore the cozy feeling, not to mention the practicality that kind of task lighting would give!

Is this detail on your list? What details are a must-have for you??

{aya 'blogpodium bound' contest}

I love what this amazing community of bloggers has been able to create; so many fabulous events with opportunities to learn, connect, and grow are taking place in so many cities. Enter BlogPodium: Canada's 1st and only conference series for design bloggers. They are holding a fantastic 'The Business of Blogging' meetup in May, and I'd absolutely love to attend it! Of course, fellow Vancouverites can tell you, the price for us to fly to TO is almost as much as it is to fly Europe ... and that's where the wonderful people at AyA Kitchens & Baths come in:

What an amazing opportunity! To enter you have to design your dream kitchen using products from AyA's website and other sites you love. I have to say, it was so much fun searching through their site and dreaming up a gorgeous kitchen. And I think you'll agree, this kitchen is SO me {you can click to enlarge for all the lovely details}:

No.1 - The Metal Peddler Copper Hood; No.2 - AyA Kitchens Antique English knob; No.3 - AyA Kitchens Classic/Traditional Allegra cabinet door style; No.4 - AyA Kitchens Traditional Large Crown; No.5 - Home Depot pot-filling faucet; No.6 - Ann Sacks marble subway tile backsplash; No.7 - Circa Lighting wood pendants; No.8 - La Cornue Chateau range; No.9 - AyA Kitchens English Antique Handle; No.10 - Paul Marra Brass chair; No.11 - 1st Dibs burled walnut table; No.12 - One Kings Lane accent chair

This really is my dream kitchen, because it has an 'old meets new' feel, with a dash of young traditional. References to the old-world include herringbone floors, large-scale cabinet crowns to the ceiling, the antique table, and plenty of brass from the Antique English AyA Kitchen hardware to the delicate brass chair. The geometric wood pendants and fabulous artwork add the touch of modern I need. Oh, and a pot-filling wall mounted faucet is totally on my must-have list, I'm not a fab cook so the easier the better! But in THIS kitchen, I think I'd become a chef ;)

Best of luck to everyone & thanks to AyA Kitchens & Baths for the amazing opportunity!

{shop talk: design darling}

Happy Friday everyone! I'm working away preparing for my thesis defense coming up {scary}, and looking out into the beautiful sunshine this afternoon in my backyard is making everything feel better! Ok I'll admit it ... I took a break and went outside for a short walk and it was splendid!

Today I wanted to share a few items that I have been lusting over from Mackenzie's fabulous boutique Design Darling. If you haven't visited her shop you must, but be warned that you will find so many things to add to your wishlist :)

First up, I love boxwood topiaries, one of my favorite looks! I especially adore them on the kitchen windowsill:

These pretties are perfectly low maintenance {just my style}, one spritz a month with keep them happy:

Next up, I swoon for acrylic desktop goodies ... and monogrammed? Even better.

And finally, at the very top of my own wishlist is this gorgeous statement necklace!! But please don't run out and snatch them all up cause I'm saving all my pennies for this one:

Just LOVE it. And there's more goodness where that came from ... go here to visit the shop!

{styling with national geographic}

Happy Thursday friends! We are a couple of days into spring now and I can't stop thinking about color: bright, happy, & fun color. If you are a bit timid about adding some color to your space for spring, fear not! It can be FAR from permanent. Here is a fab styling tip that I've seen several designers use: add a punch of yellow with a stack of good ol' National Geographics. Don't you adore the look?

Fabulous! Do you have favorite tricks to quickly add bright pops color to a room?
