{designer profile: scott lyon & company}

Do you ever come across a designer or design firm and absolutely fall in love with every thing they do? Every project resonates with you and excites you? Just happened to me when I discovered Scott Lyon & Company, a Chicago based full service residential construction company I happened upon through the powers of Pinterest. They chronicle their projects step by step on their blog. Gah, so many of my "dream home" must have items appear in their designs:

{inspired by that House & Home feature we all swooned over}

What I adore about their work is that it is all about the millwork, moldings, sconces, fantastic flooring, I could go on and on!

{scones in mirrors, my favorite!}

{concealed refrigerator}

{seriously exactly what I want - Scalamandre zebras in black in a powder room}

{cute double wide sink!}

Those are some pretty fantastic spaces. All the details I love are wrapped into these rooms! See more over on Scott Lyon & Company's blog.

{finally instagramin' ...}

Happy new week! Ok so I'm about 2-3 years behind the crowds ... but I am happy to announce I am finally on Instagram! A little late to the party, I know, but better late than never ;)

I actually had signed up in 2011 but never used my account - let's just say that in the last few weeks I'm already hooked. You can find me there as @marcusdesignblog, I'd love to find new friends to follow!

Speaking of being a couple years behind everyone ... I'm also finally watching Downton Abbey! Another new obsession. Seems like 2014 is my catch up year so far :)

Have a great Monday,

{a new york minute ...}

I've finally sifted through some of my favorite shots from NYC. As I looked through our photos, I quickly came to realize we were quite smitten with all of the fabulous architecture at every turn! We did a lot of the classic tourist-y stuff, as my hubby had not been to New York before. I was happy to have a second chance to take it all in:

viewing the Empire State from the Top of the Rock

The view from our hotel room window was pretty incredible:

Fifth Avenue

Upper East Side

Bryant Park

Grand Central Station

Grand Central Station, that breath-taking ceiling!

The iconic Chrysler Building

Times Square

Taking in Lady Liberty

So as you can tell I was basically bundled in my down-filled coat the entire time, it was chilly!! And boy it was a whirl-wind of a trip - we packed in a lot of sights, sounds, and tastes in a mere 3.5 days, but it was so worth it. I'm already dreaming up what I would see and do on the next trip! What are your favorite things to do/see in NYC? I'd love to save your suggestions for the future!
