{safari nursery done right}

Happy Friday! Hope most of you are enjoying an extended holiday - I'm off until the 2nd of January so I've lived in my pj's for over 24 hours and I LOVE it. I'm sitting here, enjoying soaking up all of the inspiration over on Pinterest - and yesterday I happened upon a photo of a lovely nursery with one of my favorite wallcoverings that I just had to share. Now THIS is a safari-theme done just right {all images via The Glow}:

What a perfect use for Scalamandre's zebras! The oversized scale and whimsy is so well-suited for a nursery. And a fire place? Now that is a room the little guy can grow into. I gotta say I'm jealous!! To see more of this cute space go here.

{easy last minute christmas cookies}

YAY for Friday! My last day at work before Christmas - I am ready for this much needed break!!

I've got dinner guests tonight - and a slew of other events in the next few days, and seeing as I've been super short on time I needed a quick and easy cookie recipe for guests, friends, family & our neighbours. Here's what I whipped up {literally!}:

These are the easiest and most delicious little shortbread cookies you can make! Great thing is you only need 3 ingredients - and I'll bet you have them at home already ...

- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened - either leave at room temp a few hrs or warm in a microwave for approx. 30 seconds)
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup icing sugar

Combine all ingredients and beat for 10 minutes. And when I say 10 minutes, I mean TEN MINUTES. If you have a hand mixer like me, you'll get a good bicep workout in ;) It's this step that makes these cookies soft, whipped, melt-in-your-mouth amazing.

Drop from a teaspoon onto a cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 mintues at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or until edges are just golden). This recipe makes 3 dozen cookies, so if you double it, you've got enough to feed the whole block! Hope this comes in handy if you needed a quick last minute recipe with ingredients already around the house.

YUM! Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

{oh christmas tree ...}

Happy Thursday! Did all of my fellow Vancouverites make it ok in the crazy snow yesterday?? Gosh, my commute home - which is supposed to take a total of 45 minutes - took me 3 entire hours! Any one with winter weather conditions please be careful out there!!

Needless to say, the snow itself is so beautiful. And it sure is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Here's a little look at my Christmas decor & tree this year:

Turquoise and shades of copper:

Also, today you can find me guest contributing over at La Dolce Vita - dissecting the makings of a Windsor Smith kitchen. The kitchen is the perfect family gathering spot during the holidays, don't you think? Hop over to check out my post, here's a peek:

Thanks for all of your support, and have a great day!

{lusting: plum furniture}

Well, it's a pretty darn happy day when you learn that one of your favorite designers now has a line of furniture that includes pieces that you've drooled over in all of their projects! That's how I felt when the lovely people over at McGill Design Group emailed to let me know about Plum Furniture. Principal designer Colleen McGill is insanely talented, and I've been following her career for a few years; now I'm lusting over every single piece in her new line. Here are a few photos of Colleen's latest project {complete with before and after!} utilizing several pieces from Plum Furniture; first the BEFORE!

And after:

It almost hurts it's so good! Everything Colleen does blows my socks off! And so many of the pieces you see are from the Plum Furniture collection.

Seriously my favorite entry vignette ever, I LOVE the idea of placing a lucite console table in front of an oversized mirror {see my past post here}:
And there will be much much more where that came from! Here's a sneak peek at two
new products not yet listed on the site but available by special order and coming soon!
The Reese Bench elongated
The Sandra Napper –Double
The Plum Furniture products are all available online and ship to Canada and the US. And you have approximately 60 different fabric and colour choices for each upholstered piece! Go here to see more products & check out McGill Design Group's design solutions {including e-decorating}, and go here to see Colleen's amazing porfolio.

{designer profile: mmr interiors}

Happy new week friends! Wow, can you believe it's really only a week till Christmas? Insane. I've been going a little crazy these last couple of weeks - with tons of work on my plate it's been hard to get my Christmas shopping in! But this weekend I got myself down to Bellevue Mall in the US, any one live near there? It's a fantastic mall, I definitely recommend it to my fellow Vancouverites who are able to drive down and make a day trip out of it.

For today, I've got the portfolio of another fantastic designer to share with you. New Orleans–based designer Melissa Miles Rufty, began her career in advertising and marketing. She started her firm, MMR Interiors 12 years ago, and now has projects around the world. What I love about her style is her ability to seamlessly melds opulence and family heirlooms with comfort & modern necessities:

Talk about wow! I love that she can pull off calm & subtle neutrals as well as she can crazy bold color. And she's got a great eye for layering fabrics. To see more from her portfolio, go here.
