{my dining table}

I am so exciting about a recent addition to my dining room décor! Almost 3 years after moving in, I finally have a dining room table and I love it! I was on the hunt for a small sized round table (as my dining room is not that large), in a dark wood, and with a nice meaty base, here’s an example of a table I had been eyeing from Liberty:

This table was a bit out of my price range so I had to be patient! A couple of years later, this amazing table with similar styling popped up for literally less than 1/3 the price of the one that I had been coveting! Such a great deal…so I say it pays to be patient!! This table is from Sears, and it comes with a leaf to make it a larger oval shape when needed (bonus!):

And just look at the pretty base!

There in the background is our DIY aquarium that I posted about here, and just for fun, (and because everyone loves a good before and after!) here are a couple of before photos of the dining room before we purchased our home:

And now, aaahhh....much better:

We changed the flooring, painted, changed up the light fixtures, added baseboards and of course got rid of those crazy window treatments!

Here’s my little fur baby trying to get in on the picture taking action:

You can see we still have tons to do in here. I have so many plans in my head, but one slow step at a time. I can’t wait to reveal a fully finished dining room to you! Now I need dining chairs, and again I am on the hunt for a specific style, and trying really hard to be patient. Here are some dining rooms with the shape I am lovin’ right now:

The chair I am coveting most:

So yummy right?? The exact chair pictured above is the one I am lusting over, and it is not quite in my budget ($800 and up each, Liberty). There are several comparables, but I am waiting for a better deal to pop up! Here’s what I have found so far:

Restoration Hardware's Martine Chair ($349 and up)

Even Costco is carrying a chair in this lovely shape (and at a very reasonable price, $379 for 2) but if only there were fabric options!!!! Darn! I am dreaming of a velvety charcoal grey.

Has any one come across any similar chairs out there?? Well, for now, I am one step closer to a completed dining room with my yummy new table! Thanks for taking a peek! I'll be linking this post to Metamorphosis Monday's over at Between Naps on the Porch, be sure to head over there for some amazing before and afters!

{my charming new retro telephone}

You might remember I blogged about a cute little retro phone from Pottery Barn a while ago, you can read that post here … I had been eyeing this telephone for a while now and even mentioned I was hoping to receive it for my b-day, wink wink!! Well, my mom must read my blog or something cause guess who got a birthday present 4 weeks early?? ;) Woot woot! Isn’t it pretty?

And you should hear the cute ringtone, it actually contains a mechanical bell. How authentic! Great thing is, it still contains many 'modern' conveniences like redial and call waiting.

So happy to have added this cute little guy to my kitchen. Thanks Mom & Dad! Stay tuned because this week I'll be posting about another fab addition to my home, a new dining room table!! I'm now on the hunt for dining chairs, and I'll show you some photos of my inspiration thus far. Any exciting additions to your home décor lately? I would love to hear about them!!

{lusting over lovely wallcoverings}

Don’t you just want to reach out and touch this textured, to-die-for, velvety wallcovering?

I’ve wanted to wallpaper the one wall behind our bed in the masterbedroom for a while now. There are so many amazing wallcovering trends out there right now, and I can’t decide what style I am lusting over most! I’d love to show you the ones I am drooling over, and maybe you can help me to decide! What style do you like best?

1. Medallion wallcoverings

After seeing the Lasari Flock wallcovering (pictured above) used in a masterbedroom on the tv show ‘Dear Genevieve’, I can’t get it out of my mind! This gorgeous paper can be found through Romo Designer Wallcoverings. Here's my favorite color way:

This divine paper was used on the first season of Sarah's House (my favorite season to date) and is also available through Romo.

2. Simple Geometrics

I like the simple repeated shapes of these papers. You may recognize this first one – it is from Candice Olson’s line of wallpapers, and if you’ve caught recent episodes of Divine Design you’ll have noticed it in the background of her personal office! It’s quite stunning! Available through York Wallcoverings.

3. Wallpaper with a shimmery shine

Who can resist the glamour and luster of these silvery wallcoverings? You can probably already tell from some of the photos above that I am loving a little shimmer. I think with the right lighting in a room, these wallpapers would truly sing!

So which of these 3 trends are you loving most? Do you have a specific favorite? Any amazing papers that I have missed? Thanks for your input everyone!

{pretty presentation + great conversation}

I was in for a real treat this afternoon as I headed to a Vancouver area blogger get-together at the Little White House Salon Café in quaint Fort Langley BC:

Here’s the outside of the Little White House, a charming converted old farmhouse which houses a café, and a shop that sells everything from furniture, to jewelry, to linens:

And here is the inside of the Salon Cafe:

The Little White House is really a delight, but meeting up with blogger friends and mentors is even more delightful!! I felt honored to spend the afternoon with such a talented group. I’ve learned so much from my blogworld friends, it was so great to actually meet some of them face to face.

We enjoyed the High Tea, which includes scrumptious sweet petits. We started eating without thinking to take a picture of the pretty food (we must have been hungry!), so here are a couple of pics from the website:

We all loved the tension between all the glitter and shine from the mirrors and chandeliers against the original rough farmhouse wood panels:

Some photos from inside the shop:

Loved these pillows!

Thank you to all the lovely ladies who made it out today, and thank you most of all to Victoria from DesignTies for all your preparations and for making the get-together happen!! Let's hope for many more :)
