This or That | Light & Dark Decor

Happy Thursday everyone! Hope your week is winding down ;) Today I have a design question for you; do you tend to be drawn to light bright spaces, or dark & cozy rooms? Does it depend on what room is being addressed? Just take a look at your Pin boards to easily figure out what you prefer! I constantly find myself switching around ... for example, I've always been CONVINCED my dream home would have a dark & delicious office/library, but then I came across this white office on the left:

... on the flip side, I was always CONVINCED I wanted a bright and airy closet, but this rich & sophisticated one on the left somehow draws me in!

Do you change your mind and flip flop like this?

Are you drawn to the bright spaces, or the dark? Or do you fall in between, depending on the spaces? I'd love to hear!

House Tour | Palmer Weiss

One of the latest projects from the fabulous designer Palmer Weiss, is bright and bold and full of chic details. I'm particularly in love with the panelled blue & white entry way:

Wowee! That's a lovely home, the finishes are classic & sophisticated, and the color keeps it fresh and fun. And how about that gorgeous bathroom cabinetry? See more from Palmer Weiss' portfolio here.

Before & After | A Kitchen Makeover

Happy new week everyone! I hope you are all enjoying the last fleeting moments of summer. My favorite kind of post is a good before & after, and today I'm sharing this lovely kitchen by the talented designer Gen Sohr, of Pencil and Paper Co., and builder Josh White of Joshua Builders. A space that was formerly cramped and dark is now filled with light for the Nashville family who call this beautiful place home. Here's a few before photos:

And now the afters:
Just lovely, I adore the mix of metals and the use of natural elements like marble and wood. Those brass shelves are striking! What are your favorite design elements in this kitchen?

Dissecting the Details | Philip Mitchell

Happy Friday everyone! Just in case you missed it, I shared another installment of Dissecting the Details over on La Dolce Vita blog yesterday. If you are a long time reader you know that I am a huge fan of millwork & mouldings, they really make a space in my opinion. Hop over to LDV to see 4 key ways that one of my favorite Canadian designers, Philip Mitchell, uses panelling and millwork to elevate his designs!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Closet Tour | Pink Peonies

The ever stylish Rach Parcell shared a glimpse into her fabulous closet this week. And the most fabulous part is that she's tucked a sweet little work desk in so that the space can also function as an office. The closet was designed by Alice Lane and features a shoe room, leopard carpet, gold hardware, and a glam pink Lucite chandelier. What's not to love?

Oh, and just in case you aren't following Rach on instagram, here is some convincing evidence of why you should be:

All of the nooks and crannies of her home look delightful {particularly her kitchen}, and I imagine we will be seeing a full home tour pop up soon enough!
