7 Interior Design Videos You Need To Watch

It's no secret that we are all craving a little bit of design inspiration via television and online video. Gone are the days of the true design shows it seems; Sarah Richardson's 'Design Inc.' (one of my long gone favorites), Designer Guys with Steven & Chris, and Million Dollar Decorators are a thing of the past. Now it's all about rental properties and real estate transactions, apparently in order to appeal to a greater number of male viewers. There has been a gaping hole for some time, so I'm excited to see a crop of videos springing up that are helping to satiate our hunger for all things décor -fabric selections, fine furnishings, and art placement!

Another one of my favorite TV shows of the past was Canadian House & Home, but the fabulous catch is that though they no longer air on television, they still post weekly free episodes on their website - I never miss one! Above you can see a shot from this years Kips Bay Show House; get the full video tour with Lynda Reeves here, and a more detailed video tour of the fantastic dressing room by Les Ensembliers here.

One more fav from the House & Home video archives (there are soooo many goodies though!), the tour of designer Allison Willson's (of Sarah Richardson Design) own home.

Designer Meredith Heron launched a fantastic new web series called 'My Small House' - you can see the first 3 episodes featuring her dream-worthy 1856 abode and it's period-appropriate restoration. When you see the sneak peeks on her instagram, you'll know you don't want to miss the details:

This week Studio McGee also launched their own web series, House to Home. Their first episode is all about designing a nursery in a rental home, something I think many viewers can appreciate!

We got a lovely dose of aspirational design on La Dolce Vita this week - a NY Brownstone completely gutted and pieced back together by Silver Lining Interiors and Magness Design; you can view the 10 min film in Paloma's post 'The Townhouse' on her blog.

Another fabulous Canadian show that I try not to miss is Cityline, particularly on Thursday's when the focus of the talk show is everything design. Brian Gluckstein, one of my fav designers, frequents the show and we get a look into his luxurious spaces. Again, every episode is online at Cityline's website. Here's an example living room segment where he highlights using blue, probably my personal favorite hue.

Did you catch Miles Redd on The New York Times T Magazine? 'One Morning Two Ways' gives us a glimpse into his stunning NY townhouse and his Fire Island escape. That front door though!!

Last but not least - some hopeful gossip: upon sharing a few shots from a recent Connecticut project, TV design queen Sarah Richardson was asked if a new design show is coming. Her answer? "[O]f course there is. I'm cooking something up with @tommysmythe (via instagram).

Hope those links will tide you over and give you the design-fix you surely need! Any other links on your radar recently?

Friday's Favs To Follow

Amanda Evans is one of my favorite local Vancouver-based designers to follow - she has a luxe design sense that draws me in! As the principle designer at Twenty One Two Designs, Inc., she's my pick for this weeks favorite to follow - her instagram account is chock-full of gorgeous inspiration, her design projects and selections, and even a lovely peek of her sweet son here and there.
