All-Over Pattern Inspiration | Indian Arbre

I've had a bathroom I've saved to my inspiration files for some time now, and I think the main reason I loved it so much was the all-over use of Schumacher's floral Indian Arbre in Hyacinth. So when I came across the bathroom before the wallcovering was installed I was astounded by what a difference the pattern and color really made. It literally makes this space sing:

If you flip back and forth between the before & after you'll see that virtually nothing else in the space was changed. The vanity, mirror, lighting, and even artwork are identical in both photos. It does look however like the millwork was painted a deeper warm putty grey and I love how it compliments the paper. The sweet boy in the photo gives us the perfect reference of human scale within this space and large-scale floral pattern.

I also found the photo below and and of course loved the covered walls and upholstery combined:

BUT have no fear, if you could only imagine using this fabric in a small dose, look to Arianna Belle's pillow shop for just the right fix:

I love the deep blues and purples combined, and how you can pull out and play up on these lovely hues. And truthfully, the beige/putty browns look so good with it in compliment, don't you think? I'm being more and more convinced of using purple these days as well, especially after Ashley Whittaker's gorgeous example in the latest House Beautiful (this is a different floral fabric on the pillow and shades but similar vibe):

Are you loving this pattern as much as I am?

Dissecting the Details | Shaun Smith

Today I'm thrilled to be back visiting Paloma on her blog La Dolce Vita for an installment of Dissecting the Details! Hop over to see all the features one of my favorite designers, Shaun Smith, utilizes in his fabulous bathroom designs. That there above is the original tile in a 1950's New Orleans ranch that he so expertly worked into his modern-day design. It's as if the wallpaper and the tile were chosen and installed together isn't it? Here's a bit more from his master bath and the rest of his lovely ranch, the before & afters are bananas (you can see more here on Southern Living and on House Beautiful):

How amazing is this fridge door?

The 'big boy' room of my dreams for my son, just look at that paper!

One more before & after for good measure:

Again the tile wasn't changed in this powder bath, just stunning! If you love what you see in Shaun's home and particularly those bathroom before & afters, hop to LDV to see the rest of my Dissecting the Details post. And of course, see Shaun's instagram here for tons of inspiration! Happy Wednesday!
