{a dash of color: my living room}

I’m so monochromatic! I always find myself using neutrals, grey, and white in my own spaces even though I am drawn to lovely punches of color in other people’s rooms! So I thought is was high-time I get myself out of my 'boring-in-beige' box and throw a dash of color into my living room, the space I inhabit most often. You might have taken a peek at this room when I posted about making over my living room with paint, so here is the space now, with a lovely shade of turquoise added in:

It all started with this cute little artichoke-inspired vase, what a perfect shade of turquoise! And at only $12 {from HomeSense}, I had to buy a pair!

Then came my sweet little side chair, isn’t she pretty?

The turquoise floral pattern on this chair changes during the day depending on the lighting, look how punchy it is in the evening:

Mix in some Moorish tile pillows, and 2 side lamps with turquoise shades, and I’ve added color to my room without breaking the bank! Just a few accents and the whole space reads in a totally different way.

And I chose lamps with a white base rather than lamps with a turquoise base so that when I inevitably change up my color scheme, I’ll just pop off the shades, and voila! A new life! I’m thinking they would also look great with a black shade and white piping…uh oh, that’s my monochromatic-self trying to come through again … ha, ha. But seriously, I am thrilled to finally be surrounded by this lovely dash of color!

GORGEOUS!! I cannot express how much I love your home, it's total perfection! Love the pops of turquoise combined with the cerise on a neutral background. And that mirrored cabinet? give.it.to.me haha!!

Love the little dash of turquoise!

My designer keeps saying that we need some color in my new house, so now the library is going to be the most beautiful shade of French blue (with green undertone). Like you, I usually prefer neutral with a dash of color, but I suspect that my designer will take that blue and run it throughout the main floor of the house as the dash of color - we will see!

I love your house and your decor!

A lovely summer update! I'm guilty of being too neutral too, though I never get sick of it. Was thinking the other day that some blue accents in the liviing room would be nice..... we'll see ;)

Love the new accents! Your place is beautifully put together. I haven't been to Homesense in ages, must find myself some colour inspiration. I too tend to be drawn to a monochromatic scheme and love the serenity it brings. I always talk about adding more colour but end up with something black or white! Funny, I think I have the same leather sofa but in black!

It looks great - those little bits of turquoise make it sing! I know what you mean about being drawn to monochromatic schemes it means we can change it up easily but then we don't change it up...

This room is beautiful! I'm a monochromatic/turquoise girl myself, so it really appeals to me. I adore the chair! It's a great size, and the fabric is lovely. I also love the white cabinet. Nice updates!

Thanks for your lovely comments everyone! Here are a few of the details:
The white mirrored cabinet is from HomeSense {or HomeGoods in the US}, and was a steal at $250!
The small white side tables were actually built buy my uncle-in-law and were passed down to me and my hubby.
The paint color we used in this room is Benjamin Moore's Escarpment, it is a lovely warm gray with somewhat purple undertones. I love it!
The author of the Chanel book is actually Assouline {a publishing company}.
